How We Gather

With 79% of Pittsburgh residents claiming to believe in God, but only 29% actually attending a weekly service, there's an entire generation who are spiritually hungry yet deeply wary. We believe we will need to innovate so that a weary world might rejoice and see Jesus as the One whose love still heals, whose truth still sets people free, and whose Kingdom is still good news.

In Acts 2, we see a simple but powerful rhythm in the early Church:

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer,” (Acts 2:42) and, “every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” (Acts 2:46)

The Church gathered both publicly and privately, worshiping in large spaces and sharing life in homes. At Homechurch, we follow that same rhythm. We alternate between Church Anywhere (in homes scattered around the city) and Church Together (collective, larger group gathering), believing both are essential for spiritual formation, authentic relationships, and shared mission.

Church Anywhere
meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, gathering in homes across our city for meals, prayer, and spiritual conversation.

Church Together
happens on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, when we come together as one church family to unite for worship, teaching, and the cultivation of a shared vision and identity.

On months with a 5th Sunday,
we come together to serve alongside local Pittsburgh nonprofits through outreach, relief efforts, and community service projects. These Sundays create intentional space in our church's rhythm to respond to real needs, care for our neighbors in tangible ways, and contribute to the well-being of our city.

This rhythm reflects the wisdom of the early church and what God is inviting us into. It is not centered on a building or a stage, but woven into the places we live, work, learn, and play. It keeps us embedded in neighborhoods, present in everyday spaces, and empowered to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever we go. It is a movement of spiritual families becoming grounded in presence, unified, and sent for the renewal of Pittsburgh and beyond.

Formed by the Spirit, together we are learning how to be with Jesus, be like Jesus, and do all that He did so that God's Kingdom would be revealed on earth as it is in heaven.

Church Anywhere

1st, 3rd, and 5th* Sundays of the Month

Location: House Churches (Homes scattered around the city)**

Time: 10 AM, though may vary by house

We believe that spiritual formation takes place in community. Our house churches are small groups of 10-20 people meeting in homes across the city, supporting each other in practical ways and loving our neighborhoods well. Think of this gathering as the “dinner table,” where we share a meal, worship, study Scripture, pray for one another, and share life together.

*
On the occasional month with a fifth Sunday, we set the day aside to serve the Pittsburgh area alongside local nonprofits, through relief efforts, outreach, and service projects. View our calendar for more details.

**Each gathering includes a potluck meal, worship, communion, prayer, scripture reading and discussion.
